VIMI LABS

VIMI Labs is a data-as-a-service platform that stores, analyze, optimize, categorize, and visualize materials data using pre-trained AI/ML models. Our technology automates the routine, yet laborious, processes of gathering competitive technical and commercial data of energy materials from various databases. The embedded algorithms aggregate the datasets using sophisticated analytics against conventional materials data, thus providing high-value-add comparison tables and insightful graphs that reveal technology gaps. These enable the user to understand the differences between the user’s own novel material and conventional materials. The ML models deliver a comprehensive analysis to the user within minutes.

Meet Our Team

We bring vast experience in managing and executing research, development, demonstration and commercialization of energy materials and components for electrochemical energy devices.

Dr. Kourosh Malek

is currently heading the division for artificial materials intelligence at Forschungszentrum Juelich, IEK-13, where ViMi Labs project is hosted. He brings in years of experience in scientific research, R&D management, and technology commercialization in advanced energy materials, particularly for hydrogen and energy storage sectors, software-hardware integration, AI & big data analytics, Internet of Things (IoT) and clean energy technologies. Dr. Malek has a proven track record of qualified experience in founding two data-driven software start-ups, raising VC and public market capitals, including RTO instruments.

Dr. Titichai Navessin

leads the partnership development, coordinate onboarding of new users, and assist with operations. Dr. Navessin has significant experience in energy materials development and deployment in electrochemical applications in the hydrogen industry. He served as managing director for national and international hydrogen-focused research programs. Dr. Navessin has commercialization experiences in the field of energy materials. He co-found a university spin-off company and raised multi-million dollars in funding.

Prof. Dr. Michael Eikerling

is Director of IEK-13, provides scientific guidance on technology development and deployment in ViMi Labs. He has significant experience and a strong record of delivering research and development projects to hydrogen and fuel cell companies. Prof. Eikerling received his Ph.D. in Physics from Technische Universität München (TUM) in 1999. From 2003 to 2019, he was Professor of Theoretical Chemical Physics and Electrochemical Materials Science at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. Between 2003 and 2013, he held a cross-appointment to the fuel cell institute of the National Research Council of Canada in Vancouver, BC, where he shaped a program in physical modeling of fuel cells.

Satvik Chandar, B.Sc.

is leading ML/DL module integration pipeline, from research and development stage to full software deployment. Moreover, he oversees the database management and overall user experience.

Matthias Roß., B.Sc

is a full stack developer. He contributes to development and integration of the existing and new analysis modules.

Oskar Cheong, M.Sc.

conducted various field studies for ViMi users and will continue to provide customer relationship assistance and technical support to this project.

ViMi Labs project gets continuous research and development support from senior and junior research staff at IEK-13, as well as from an expansive network of supporting scientists from partner research organizations.
